Feature View function displays all available object features, including context information. This function renders image objects in the image viewing pane with a gray value representing the value of each object in the context of a chosen feature. Low feature values will result in dark colors and high values will be represented by a bright rendering.
This functionality allows the user to immediately and intuitively assess whether a chosen feature has the capability to separate one class of objects from another. When the objects representing the two classes show strong contrast and there is no overlay in the Feature View mode, then the chosen feature can be used. The feature with the strongest contrast is the best feature. At the same time, the threshold value that separates the two classes can be easily identified by rendering objects only within a chosen range of feature values. By seamlessly changing the upper or the lower limit of this range until the two classes are separated, users can easily identify this threshold.
